I have been working as a Sacramento personal trainer and studio owner for over 20 years now. In my time I have watched people striving for that elusive six pack ab development more now than ever before. Just on the internet alone I have watched tons of potions, gimmicks, gadgets and tricks being sold by the boat loads. Most of that stuff is plain old junk and not worth the investment of the time nor the money.

Let me share with you some truth about developing a six pack set of abs that you will be proud of.

1. Lets start with some basic truth. You need 3 important pieces of the six pack ab pie before you will ever even get near to possessing super abs. You need the proper diet, the proper aerobic fat burning exercises, and good old fashioned gut busting work to etch in that fine ab detail. If you thought there were short cuts or gimmicks I am sorry to tell you sorry but uh no. Real body builders or anyone with abs worth showing spend a lot of time and hard work to get there. You really do need all of the pieces to fit together before you will see any results else you end up with steel cable covered up with marshmallow. That is how important diet and aerobic exercise is with this mix.

2. Way to many folks are lacking in the proper focus when they are working their abs or any other body part for that matter. I have not only been a personal trainer in Sacramento California but I also taught aerobics for over 24 years. I have seen people do ab workouts by flopping around on the floor mistakenly thinking they are actually training their abs. Look, when you train your abs you must focus your mind into the muscles and make them squeeze as hard as you can on each and every rep. That is how you develop real six pack abs! From the mind to the body.

3. Every old school trainer has secrets so here is one of mine. When you wake up in the morning do your ab workout on top of your bed. That is do crunches right there on your bed. Why? Well, your bed will conform to the shape of your lower back and prevent that rebound effect that the floor creates. This will make your ab workout safer on the lower back but also much harder. At least 3 times a week I keep my laptop next to my bed and do one of my recorded with music ab workout programs. This has the effect of jump starting your day and you get the ab workout over with so that you can focus your energy on other body parts for your weight training workouts. It’s hard to train abs effectively at the end of a grueling weight workout.

So, there you have it, my top 3 tips for developing six pack abs in record time. Remember there are no short cuts and as my parents taught me “nothing good ever came easy.” Amen to that cause I have certainly found that to be the truth in the 20 plus years I have been a personal trainer to folks from housewives to body builders.
