Natural Slimming Solutions – An Update
Doctors talk about our body mass index when they refer to weight issues. We’re considered healthy if our BMI is between 18.5 and 25. Above twenty five, and we have a problem with our weight. What’s more if we take that figure over thirty we’re defined as obese – over forty and the definition is morbidly obese.
It’s very easy to determine what your BMI is: Take your height in metres and your weight in kilos. Multiply your height by itself and then divide your weight by the answer.
For example if your height is 1.6 metres and your weight is 78 kilos, your BMI is 30.47 (1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56 then 78 / 2.56 = 30.47). These figures state categorically that you fall into the obesity category. Medical advice would definitely suggest a change of diet and activity is needed.
Generally, a reduction in the amount of high fat food will get the weight-loss ball rolling. It’s important that we reduce our portions and convert to healthier options.
Don’t be tempted by miracle diets that promise massive weight loss in no time at all. A crash diet is any eating programme with less than 1200 – 1500 calories a day. Radical weight reduction can result, but it’s usually very short-lived!
There are no short- cuts to long-term healthy weight loss. Trimming a few hundred cals a day off what you currently eat will take a few pounds off each month. This won’t drop two dress sizes in a month, but it could well keep you two sizes down 12 months from now.
Fatty foods tend to give us the biggest problem with weight management. Lower your intake of saturated fat then, and you achieve a noticeable reduction in calories. In its place eat more fresh vegetables and fruit. To fill up, try eating more wholemeal and grain. It won’t take long before you notice you’re actually feeling better.
It’s not worth saving calories up for two meals a day. By the afternoon, you’ll be so hungry you might be tempted by chocolate or crisps. On the contrary, you should eat several small meals a day to prevent getting too hungry. It’s in fact more difficult to lose weight when you starve yourself. The body metabolises more when it receives frequent healthy portions of food. This leads to an efficient system of weight loss.
