These exercises range from the basic and well known like the classic abdominal crunches, to leg raises, and multiple weight lifting machines designed to target that specific trouble area of many people&#8217;s bodies.</p>
<p>&#13;The wide variety of various ab machines out there, and the large variety of different abdominal exercises can be a little bit intimidating to a lot of people who aren&#8217;t natural gym rats. Whenever there are so many choices, attempting to figure out which abdominal exercises are best for your goals and your situations can be intimidating. The good news is that there is no &#8220;only one way&#8221; to get there, which means that a wide variety of abdominal exercises can be effective.</p>
<p>&#13;The other good news is that despite all the commercials bombarding you with the claim that you have to buy this machine or that machine, but many of the best abdominal exercises aren&#8217;t from machines, but are some of the same good old fashioned exercises that you practiced in gym class.</p>
<p>&#13;The three best overall abdominal exercises:</p>
<p>&#13;1. Crunches. That&#8217;s right, the good old fashioned stomach crunch is still the best exercise for abs and should be the foundation for any serious exercise program focusing on abdominal exercises.</p>
<p>&#13;2. Reverse crunches. These are similar to crunches, but emphasize the lower abs over the upper abs. A great balance exercise for regular crunches.</p>
<p>&#13;3. Side bends. These are really good to work on the supporting oblique muscles.</p>
<p>&#13;Someone who only concentrates on these three exercises will do well in building up their abs. These abdominal exercises should always be the base of any serious workout. With weights and other machines, there are also several other really good exercises that can add some great variety, help you keep interest in your workouts, and also help to build your ideal abs.</p>
<p>&#13;Leg raises are another favorite among gym goers. Just set yourself up with good posture on the appropriate machine and lift the legs. The pressure forces your abs to work out and can help really shape up that part of the body. The abdominal bicycle crunch is another very popular exercise that you might see around. For some people this is easy, but for beginners it might take a while to get the coordination down.</p>
<p>&#13;If you have a bench to work with, then there&#8217;s a whole variety of additional abdominal exercises that you can do, including: side leg raises, front kicks, bench kickbacks, and rear leg scissors. A gym workout for abs combined with Pilates at home can be a great way to get the full effect of each workout and come out with the abdominal muscles that you&#8217;ve been dreaming of.</p>
<p>&#13;The most important thing is to just keep with whatever abdominal exercises that you are working out your stomach muscles with. Keep at it until you get the results you want, and you&#8217;ll be glad that you stayed faithful to those abdominal exercises.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most everyone wants to have nice abs that look slim and sexy.  However, there are a few very common mistakes that many people make which prevents from getting a solid six pack.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Mistake #1: Trying to do too many crunches to lose stomach fat</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>If only doing lots of crunches worked for carving out a solid set of abs. If doing a few hundred crunches was all it took to lose body fat then everyone walking around would not have any excess fat. Doing lots of crunches and other ab exercises do not help you get nice abs simply because they do not help you lose the fat that covers them up!</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Ab exercises simply do not burn enough calories or stimulate the body&#8217;s metabolism enough to get down to 8-10% body fat for a man and 15-20% if you are a woman. The only way doing lots of crunches will help is if you are already down to a very low body fat percentage and want to increase the &#8220;toned&#8221; look of your abs. If you cannot see your abs at all then it simply means that is too much body fat covering them up!</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Therefore, the focus of your diet and exercise routine should be to lose body fat so you can see your abs. Doing endless amounts of ab exercises just won&#8217;t help do that.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Mistake #2: Not keeping a food log</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Since you know that getting a nice set of six pack abs all depends on having low enough levels of body fat, you should know that the next step is to pay attention to the most important part of the whole process: the amount of calories you are consuming.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>If you have excess body fat that you can&#8217;t seem to get rid of, then you absolutely have to understand that it is simply the result of taking in too many calories. Its not from poor genetics or some other physical disorder, it just comes down to consuming too many calories. The fitness models who have the sexiest abs of anyone will be the first to tell you they got that way by being extremely careful about what they eat.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The absolute best indication you can use for figuring this out is to keep a food log of what you are eating. You will be amazed at the perspective you will gain about your eating habits from keeping a food log.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Since getting nice abs and a lean midsection is all about losing body fat, and losing body fat is all about taking in less calories or burning more with exercise, then a food log to track yourself is an absolute must.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Mistake #3: Not lifting weights</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>This will seem counterintuitive to some, but lifting weights is an excellent way to lose more body fat. Resistance training will give you more lean muscle mass that will have a dramatic impact with increasing your resting metabolism.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>This means that you are burning more calories because muscle is very active tissue. If you are not strength training then you are missing a huge opportunity to burn more calories. It has been said that each extra pound of muscle mass burns an extra 60 calories per day. If you gain even 3 lbs of lean muscle tissue, you will burn an extra 180 calories each day! That is much more than a simple ab workout will burn.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Conclusion</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Getting nice abs does not have to be a big struggle in which you are constantly playing the guessing game. You simply need to eat the right foods at the right time while tracking your calories.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>You can use a regular notebook or an online food log if you want more detail. By focusing more attention on total body strength training, your body will develop more lean muscle mass and have a higher metabolic rate.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Now take action right away and start developing those nice abs to show off!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Don&#8217;t you just wish you could have those sleek and sexy abs that you see on all the top models and celebrities? Don&#8217;t feel alone, all of us want to have abs like that. It doesn&#8217;t happen overnight just like the few extra pounds that we have piled on didn&#8217;t happen overnight either.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
You can get the abs that you desire. You have to make a commitment to yourself to do the exercises necessary on a regular basis. If you do it won&#8217;t be long before you have the sexy celebrity abs displayed by Liz Hurley, Denise Richards and Cheryl Crow just to name a few. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
The Pilates method is based on core strength and full body integration and it is really used by celebrities to give them the sleek sexy toned abs that we would like to have.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Here are the 3 basic exercises that will recruit and engage the deepest layer of the abdominals and give you the celebrity sleek sexy abs you desire.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Exercise 1. Chest Lift	<br />&#13;<br />
Lying on your back with your feet flat on the floor with your knees bent, place your hands behind your head keeping your elbows out to the side throughout the movement. <br />&#13;<br />
Exhaling pull your belling button into your spine and beyond, allow your lower back to relax into the mat, tip your chin forward and allow stomach muscles to pull your shoulders up off the mat. Pause at the top, inhale and bring your abs in even deeper. Then exhale and with the abs pulled in slowly lower to the starting position. Inhale and release your abs. Repeat 8 to 10 times</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Tip 1: To prevent any movement of the pelvis the engagement of the pelvic floor is required. This results in working the transverse abdominals.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Exercise 2.  The Hundred<br />&#13;<br />
Lying on your back with your knees bent, arms are straight overhead, exhale and using your abs bring your head up and chin down while curling your upper back off the floor. Inhale. Exhale and pull the abs in further and extend your legs and bring your arms down to your side keeping your hands a few inches off the floor (if your legs shake, you should raise them until they stop), keeping your low back on the floor. <br />&#13;<br />
Hold the position take 5 breathes in and out and at the same time move your arms up in down in short pumping motions. Be sure to keep you neck and shoulders relaxed as the abdominal muscles should be doing the work not your neck and back. Now bring your knees in towards your chest and place the hands back behind them again as you roll your upper back and head back to the floor. Repeat 8 to 10 times.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Tip 2: As you become more adept you can lower your legs for more challenge, only remember to keep your legs at a level that you can still control them. Also for those that have neck or back problems this exercise can be performed with the knees bent and the feet flat on the floor.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Exercise 3.   Double Straight Leg Lower and Lift<br />&#13;<br />
Lying on your back extend your legs straight up to the ceiling, straighten your legs outwards making sure that your heels remain together and that your inner thighs are contracted. Interlace your hands behind your head and elbows out to the side inhale and pull your abs in towards your spine, Lift your head and chest off the floor. <br />&#13;<br />
Remain in this position throughout the course of the exercise, inhale and with your abs pulled in, slowly lower your legs from the hips towards the floor, going only as far as you can keep control and body alignment. Use your abs for control and keep your back on the mat and do not pull on your neck and head with your hands and elbows. Exhale, exerting more control on the abs slowly bring your legs back to the starting position. Repeat 8 to 10 times.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Tip 3: This is a very hard exercise, so you may want to work up to it by starting with your head flat on the floor and your arms out to the side for balance.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you are looking to have powerful, sexy abs, then you have come to the right place for that information. To achieve a six pack or flat stomach you will have to do more than just crunches. You will have to do cardio exercises involving your core, like running, skipping, playing a sport, or something of your choice. And you will have to eat a healthy diet. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Here are some great tips to achieve a strong powerful sexy core to help you with all your other exercises too. You will be able to jump higher, run faster, lift more weight in all your exercises, and on top of that you will look and feel great.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Abdominal Tips:</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
1. When doing and abdominal exercise you must focus on crunching the abs together. So concentrate on moving your belly button in a line towards chest bone. You will feel a tight squeeze in your abs, but be careful at first, as you can put the muscle into spasm if you aren&#8217;t used to it. This is how the abdominals work they crunch, not curl like a traditional sit-up.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
2. Take deep breaths and drink cold water in between exercises to help reduce lactic acid build up, and to increase energy.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Abdominal Exercises and Tips: </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Dynamic Core Stretch: </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Stand up straight with your arms above your head go on your toes and reach up and then lean back sticking your pelvis out you will feel your lower abs tighten. Now come back forward with your arms still over your head and lean forward with your hips without bending your back. Try twisting your body around, but keep your body erect and stretched out, not slouching.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Hanging Leg raises: </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
This is an advanced exercise that involves more than just the abs, but is a great compound exercise that helps connect the abs with the hip flexors, which is useful for running, kicking, and jumping. So basically hang from a bar, if this is to hard, then use the leg raise stand. Now lift using your hips and pelvis first than lift you legs up, touch the bar if you can. And remember to crunch your abs.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Scissor Crunches: </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
This is a great total abdominal exercise that will target the entire abs, including the oblique muscles if you put a twist in it, just like with most core exercises. OK, for this on lie on the floor on your back with your legs stretched out and your arms stretched behind your head. Now raise your legs and arms at the same time, bring them up and towards each other as close as you can while focusing on crunching the abs together. For more power, raise you legs and arms together as fast as possible into a crunch position, then lower your legs and arms with control as soon as they are an inch off the ground power them back up, continue until your most powerful rep then stop and rest.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
The Bridge/Plank: </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Something that most people don&#8217;t know is that the abs are more than what you see on the outside, for example a 6 or 8 pack abs. There is also an entire abdominal wall that can be argued is more important to strength than the visual abs. The reason for this is because the interior core protects your vital organs for impact damage. This is why know matter the look of your abs, like a boxer for example, if he/she gets hit hard enough in the mid-section they will bleed from the mouth and/or cause serious internal organ damage, bottom line it&#8217;s nasty. So to help protect your insides more, add this to your core routine. And you and do this from different angles, reverse (chest facing up) and on the side too.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Here&#8217;s how it works:</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Go into a push-up position on the floor; now bend your arms one at a time onto your forearms, after a few seconds you should start to feel you abs tighten to support your body, this is actually strengthening the inner core, try to hold it for at least 30-60 seconds, or work you way up to that. For more of a challenge move your arms further in front of you increasing the stretch in your abs, and back and more resistance. Good Luck!!</p>
