read this months issue of MD magazine..chales glass rips mentzer..says that his training theories are pure junk..not enough muscle stimulation from the infrequent training sessions not to mention mentzers form sucks..I will listen to charles glass..

i do it his trainings in 1 month , and form 100 kg on bench press – im up to 140 kg, from 30 kg biceps -im naw at 50 kg

its true! The sciens of bb has making progress since the 70s…belive it or not! Its a very good program but it can be modified. That mr olympia you’re talking about had a record in steroids aswell by the way!
A fast dropping weight is merciless against the human body.
I think Mentzer was right about the concentric phase of the lift. Especially with his reasoning. A fast lift is impossible to do without momentum involved. There is simply no way around avoiding momentum during a fast lift. You also severely increase the risk for injury with a fast lift as well. Especially toward the end of the motion when the weight comes back down against you. Look at it in terms of a hammer, a slow hammer pushes no nail into wood, whereas a fast one will pound one in.

concentric lift has to be aster as you can,thats the only way to estimulate fiber II type.

Sounds like you should have not worked so hard at the eating…..
in 18 months of using heavy duty i gained six inches around my waist and just over quarter of an inch around my upper arm. people began asking me if i had stopped training cos my body looked unmuscular. Thet looked at me funny when i told them i train harder than ever. Highly recommended.

Glad your an HIT convert. Ive been around this sport for 25 years and a fan of mentzer’s for around 24. Some people argue about mentzers version or arther jones’s or even dorian’s. My own view, and it is my own, is that one per ex, done in strict style to failure is enuff, BUT you could do maybe 3 total sets per muscle eg. pullovers (to pre ex) pulldown n rows, chest – pec dek n incline press.Saw Ray in seminar in 85, he said similar!
